YESTERDAY.
(Before Mr H. W. Northcroft, S.M.) ASSAOLT.—Sarah Jane Neville, an elderly woman, charged with assault on Catherine Markoy, at Parnell, on January 18th, was fined 10s, and ordered to pay £3 coats, the alternative being fixed at seven day_' imprisonment. The evidence wenb to Bhow thab tho accuaed went into the yard of a Mrs Beach (whose house and fowls cemplainant was taking care of for_ bho owner) and took away a fowl. Complainant went bo accused'a gate and asked for the fowl, whereupon Mrs Neville assaulted her without provocation. Accmed stated that tho fowl she took belonged to hor, and that Mrs Markoy followed her to the gate and triod to torce ber way in. Accuaed then ejected her, without using any unnecessary force in so doing.—Mr Parr appeared for the accuaed, and Mr Baume for complainant.
