SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATIONS
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES.
The following report on the recent examinations '('or junior district scholarships was submitted to the Board of Education at its meeting to-day by Mr V. E. Rice, Secrutary :— " There are funds available for the award of 24 junior scholarships, for which 150 candidates were examined. Only nine candidates qualified by gaining at least 30 per cent, of the marks obtainable in each subject, and 50 per cent, of t,he tobal number of marks in the whole examination. Two candidates gained over .50 per cont. of the aggregate number of marks in the whole examination bub failed to get 30 per -cent, of marks in ono subject (history). Eighb other candidates gained the maximum of 30 per cent, in each subject, bub failed to reach the minimum of 50 per cent, in the whole examination."
The following were the successful candidates in the order of precedence :— Margaret G. B. Grant, Parnell, 556 marks.
