SWIMMING SPORTS.
There was an excellent attendance ab the Auckland Swimming Club's eighth carnival in the Calliope Dock on Saturday afternoon, and the sports were very interesting. During the afternoon an exhibition of lifesaving and resuscitation drill was gone through by Messre H. N. Gold water, J. W, Phillips, D. .L. Gold water, and J. W. Kinnear, under the leadership of Mr R. W. St. Ciair. The various races resulted as follows : —
Maiden* Race, 80yds.—G. W. Hughes, 1; W. Kenny, 2 ; J. W. Cook, 3. Time, 55sec. Hughes, after a good race, won by aboub a yard, Cook, two or three yards away, third.
Ladies' Bracelet Handicap, 100 yds,— Fii**-t hetib: C. J. Sainty, 1; S. de Yough, 2;F. P. Burgess, 3. Time, lmin 18 l-5.h sec. Second heab: G. W. Cardno, 1; C. J. Brook. 2; A. Tilly, 3. Time, lmin 18 o-sth sec. Third heab: P. C. Bayly, 1 ; P. H. Hughes, .2; E. A. Stone, 3. Time, lmin 22 2-sth sec. Final : C. J. Sainty (12sec), 1; S. de Yongh (15sec), 2. Time, lmin 17sec. This was a hue race between Yongh and Sainty.

Plunge Handicap (time limit 60*ec).— John Russell won this event from three others, with a plunge of 58ft 9iin. E. C. Stephenson wa-* second with 68re SJin. Ladies' Rack,lb3yds handicap.—Miss A. Glover (10.-cc), 1 ; Mi<,s M. Cook (scratch), 2. Time, 52 1-sth sec. Miss Glover won this r.-ica ait bur an excellent performance.
On.At. and Umi.K-.lla Race.—Only two start.id £'«j»- thi>. avent, which was won by J. A. Mcl<Q..d. 11. J. Bailey being close up. MEDLEY Race, 120 yds. Conditions: Competitors to divo- 10yds, swim 15yds with feet only, either on back or face, 30yds brudgeon sbroke, 30yds breast stroke, and 35yds side stroke,—J. Porcival (6->ec), 1; F. P. Burgesß (10* ec), 2; M. Scobt (scratch), 5. Won easily.
