SUDDEN DEATH.

New Plymouth, this day. Mr Edward Rickerbv, Governor of the local'gaol, died euudenly about aeven this morning. He bad entered his office to attend to his duties and • few minutes later Warder Wolner, when passing the office, beard groans and found Rickerby on the floor, apparently unconscious. Medical aid was promptly in abtendence, but was too late. Apoplexy is supposed to have been the cause. Deceased was about 57 years of age and was formerly chief warder at Mount Eden. He leaves a widow and 4 children. * * -
