Invercargill, Thursday, The Queensland v. Southland cricket* match was continued to-day in boiaterous and showery weather. With 3 wickets down for 89, Mcbtlincby aad Lewis resumed the batting, and carried the score to 117 before being separated. The others raised the total to 179, when ftt4.sop.m; Hitchcock'got a nasty knock on the fingers from Ball, and the innings closed and play ceased. Queensland's score to-day was :—* McUtinchy, 35; Lewis, 39; Wilaon, 21 j HiteboooU, rofcirod r 1-j Byrnes,. 67- Millar.. not out, 0; Jones, 3 ; extras, 2 : total, 179. Robertson took 4 wickets for 65, Taylor 2 for 5, Burneß 1 for 6, Purdie 1 for 33, Carvof 1 for 37. Tha attendanca was about 50. Tha match will be finished to-morrow. The Queenslauders play at Gore on Saturday and Monday.
