There was a large attendance ab tho Lawn Tennis Tournament at Napier on Dec. 29. A warmly-contested match took place between J. M. Marshall and J. R. Hooper for the Men's Championship Singles. Marshall won, the score being: B—6, 6—2, B—6. In the Men's Champion. Rhip Doubles, C. Gore and Harper beat 0, C. Cox and W. A. Stycbe. 6— 2* 6—3, 5—2. In the Ladies' Handicap Singles, Miss Kennedy wsa the winner. In the Ladies' Championship Singles, Miss Nunneley beat Miss Kennedy, the ocore beingi 6—l, 6—o. The Ladies' Doubles (handicap) was won by Miss And and Miss K. Van&.ch. In the Men's Handicap Double, R. D. Harman and C. R. Clark won, booting E. P. Levien and C. Broad. J. f_ Hooper took second prize in the Men* Champion Singles. Mr Maequarrle, tho president, distributed the prizes. Chftero were heartily given for the winners. Tho tennis championship t_>umaa_e__ finilhed on bhe 30th. In the final combined doubles handicap, Misses NonaoU.? ami Parker defeated Misses Tremnell and Ross. In the men's handicap singles, final, _.> Marshall, champion, beat Norman.
The annual picnic of tho Now Zealand Natives' Association book place on Jan. 9 ab Lake Takapuna, and was ia O-Ory respect successful. In the morning oporto for the children were hold, and in tho afternoon an excellent programme of races was gone through.
