The Southland team against bhe Australian cricketers nexb week will be :-— G. G. Burnes, Bell, Boys, A, Carver, Fox, Dalyrmplo, Findlay, Hamer, Kane, T. Kingsford, Moore, C. Parduo, T. M. Quinn, Robertson, Warm, Wilson, Widdas, G. F. Watson.
As all Association competitions had been declared off for November 14th and Slab, a match United C.C. v. North Shore C.C. was commeuced on Saturday ab Devonport. The latter Club had nob its full strength. Going in first the Shoremen compiled 145, Burgess showing first-class form for 46 not oub, and Geudie compiled 34. Stemson, of the bowlers tried, did be_a with 6 for 41. With three-quarters of an hour to ploy tho United, made 105 for one wicket, D. Hay 54 nob oub, and Cuff 45. Both showed good form and hit hard. The wicket was a splendid one and all in favour of the batsmen. The lady friends of the local club kindly provided afternoon tea, which was much appreciated by the players. The game will be continued nexb Saturday.
