At a meeting of ihe Queensland National Bank, the Chairman stated that the directors felt it impossible .to continue to pay 4^ per cent, on deferred deposits and at the same time continue successfully to compete with other banks which were obtaining money at considerably lower rates, and it was intended to ask depositors lo consent to a reduction of rates. He also indicated that there was a probability of a further reduction in the lending rates of banks.
