A meeting of shareholders in the Trilby holding, of 32 acres, Coromandel, was held jenterday afternoon in the office of Mr W.K. Waters, Victoria Arcade. Mr Ledingham piemided. Ib was decided to form the property into a no-liability company with' a capital of 80,0008 hares of la each nil paid up. lit W. R. This claim of 100 acres adjoins the Puru Consolidated and Waimea. A company is being formed consisting of 80,000 shares, of which 40,000 are open to the public ab £30 per 1,000. A meeting of the Council of the Auckland Chamber of Mine 3 was held yesterday afternoon, Colonol Burton presiding. Mr George Clarkson, one of the original prospectors of Hunt's Shotover claim, at the Thames gold field a, forwarded to the Chamber a historical relic of the firsts discovery of payabie gold at the Thames, viz., the identical pick which unearthed gold in the Shotover claim. ■ It was resolved to accept the gift, with thanks. In regard to a communictibion from Ilia Chamber, Mr Brewer, Registrar of the .Sapreme Court, wrote that he would take steps to prevent the duplication of names or colorable imitations of names in fufcuro j registration of claims. Twenty-nine new members were elected, bringing the total number of members up to 312. The statement of accounts showed that the total finances of the Chamber, after paying liabilities, were £127 9s Id. There were 167 companies now registered with the Chamber. It was resolved :—" That it is desirable that a mining exhibition be held in Auckland in 1897," It was also resolved, on the motion of the Chairman :— " That, in the opinion of this Chamber, there exists a paramount necessity for improving the means of communication between Paeroa and Waihi by railway, and that Government bs* applied to to make provision for the necessary work."
