The Union Company's island steamer Oreti had a breakdown at Labaia recently, one of the valves of the engines giving way. The broken parts wero sent up here by the Hauroto to be repaired. *
The 8.8. Upolu arrived about 1 p.m. to-day from Westport, with a cargo of about 700 bona of coal.. The chief officer reports that' tho steamer lefb Westport on Monday, July 13, and experienced strong south westerly weather wibh heavy seas the whole trip, till arrival as above. The Upolu passed the schooner Queen ab Spirits Bay, North Cape, ab 2 p.m. yesterday, aud reports all well.
