CRETE.
A GENERAL AMNESTY.
London, July 5. A general amnesty has been proclaimed in Crete, and the Halepapa Convention, which provides for a Christian Governor and officials, is to be revived.
Unless, however, the Powers will guarantee to carry out reforms, the Cretans declare they will proclaim union with Greece.
Mr Curzon, in answer to a question in the House of Commons on this subject, said England could only intervene to the'extent on which the Powers were unanimous. It would be fraught with peril, to the peace of Europe to act alone.
