HURDLE RACE,
Melbourne, Saturday.
The Victoria Racing Club inaugurated their Grand National Meeting to-day at Flemington. The following was the resulb of
The Grand National Huhdle Race, a handicup of lOsovs each, with 600sovs added: second horse lOOaovs; third, 50hovs. Three milee.
Mr J. Farrell's b g Buzzi, 6yrs or aged,
9st(Laverby) Zonroff, aged, 9sfc (Underwood).. Morapo, aged, lOsb 131b (Morris)
Thirteen horses started. Betting: 3 to 1 againf-b Dungnn, 7 to 2 Morago, 5 to 1 Artißt, 33 to 1 Buzzi and Zourofr.
As heads wore turned for home, Buzzi drew oub from his opponents, and won easily by two lengths and a-half. Tho Artist fell, and Dungan, the favourite, was never prominent in the race. Time, smin 59^860.
