NEWCASTLE STRIKE.
Sydney, this day.
The majority of coal ownerß have expressed willingness to confer with the Premier, and a Conference will be held on Monday. The general opinion is thab tho owners are determined to uphold their recent ultimatum. This view is borne out by a letter received by the Delegates Beard from the Secretary of the Owners' Association with regard to the Premier's late proposals for a conferenco. He states that the stoppage of the pits removed fcb.e strongeab inducement) to grant sunh a conference. While disclaiming any intention to crush the Unionist*, the masters are fully determhie3 in future to deal only with the miners einplayed in their individual collieries. They will no longer eubmifc to the risk of a repetition of the preeenb disastrous state of affaira. ■ .
