ELECTORAL.
THREE ADDITIONAL MEMBERS 'FOR THE NORTH ISLAND.
(BY TELESRAPH—PARLIAMENTARY RE
PORTER,
Wellington, this day. Tub notification made by the Premier of his intention to introduce a Representation Bill is accepted as a certain indication thai there is to bo an increase in the number of members of the Houee of Representatives. It is believed that the Government proposal will bo to add three more members for the North Island, leaving the South Island with tho name number as at prosenb. This does not necessarily mean thab South Island electorates will remain unaltered, for re-distribution will be necessary on acconnt of the shifting of population. Ib is aleo said that tho Bill will embody a proposal to lower the quota necessary for country constituencies. A former rumour thab the Bill would propose single electorates la cities is contradicted on tho authority of a member of the Cabinet. I believe that the Representstipn Bill i« all ready and will be circulated as coos as the Representation Commissioners have raported, so as to allow of the new boundaries and the quota being fixed.
