Owing to the great. scarcity of eggs, ib was decided this afternoon to advance the price 3d per dozen, viz., Is 6d wholesale, la 9d retail. The public meeting and concert to bo held to-morrow night in the Choral Hall, in bhe interests of rescue and benevolent work of the Helping Hand Mission, promise., to be'of more than usual interest. Amongst those announced to speak are Miss Lilian Edger, M.A., Hon. Wm. Jennings, Sister Francis, aud Mr H. Wilding. Three hundred children of the Mission will sing an thems and choruses, and several well known popular singers will take part, including Mies Rimmer and Rev. A. Mitchell, who is new to an Auckland audience. Mr Ngaba is to recite " Scenes from the Past." All who have listened to ib will wish to hear it again. The Mission has purchased a property in Wellesley-streeb tor the purpose of establishing a nighb refuge for women and a Rescue Home combined. The proceeds of the meeting are to be devoted "to this excellent object. Smith and Caughey are selling Crewdson's 32in medium calico at 3_d per yard ; 36in ditto, 4^d, the trade supplied. -(Advt).
