An extensive report has been laid before the City Council by Mr H. Munro Wilson, on the Council's Punakitere endowment. Mr Wilson says tho land taken as a whole is of fairly good quality, bub is suibable more for pastoral than for agricultural purposes, on account of their being no extent of flab land on any of the . eebions. On visiting bhe land he found a greab deal of irreparable harm had been done to the beat portions of the sections by neglect afber the bush had been felled and burnt. This waa due, ho thoughb, eibher to the burns nob having been properly sown in grass, or to allowing the clearings to become covered with fern and ti-tree. The land comprising the cleared sections was of first-class quality, and if ie had been properly put down in grasses and stocked it would have given good results. According to a table appended to the report the total area is shown as about 1,500 acres valued ab £1,106 ; Of this, 275 acres (5 sections) are occupied and the balance unoccupied.
