(from our own correspondent.)™"*

Regent-street August 10. Few prettier trimmings can be found for hats this season than the new accordioned silk, which is made of suitable width for millinery purposes, and in both plain and striped silks, the latter being specially effective.

In Fig. 1 I give An exceedingly pretty and sbyli&h bab of dark purple rustic straw, lined with velvet of the same shade. Tha low crown ia trimmed with a very broad bow of the accordioned silk in dark purple and pala yellow stripes, with a group of daffodils—two or three of which stand up showing their long stems—and another group fastened under the lofb side of tha broad brim. To a mind sensitive to the exquisite floral productions of nature, or bhe refined in art, two (apparently favourite) introductions now much in vogue, are trying, to say the leaeb; those consisting of huge purple and green roses. We saw something—and wished to see less—of tha green rose last season ; this presenb one its proportions have considerably increased, giving ib. a still more striking family likeness to the useful bub not ornamental cabbage. The purple rose is something fearful to encounter, and we fervenbly hops ib may disappear with as much speed ac possible.

A charming evening dress is the subject) sketched in Fig. 2. jib ia composed of pale yellow silk made with a quite plain skirt,' and bodice; the latter fastening at the back, and made to fit with three seats'! in front instead of the usual darts. Too decolletage ia finished by folded dark violeb velvet, drawn into tho centre where if) forms a broad bow. The sleeves are mada capelette fashion, of pale yellow chiffon, very full; strings of violets fastened at the shoulders and hanging orer them loosely. This would make a particularly successful evening toilette for a blonde, wich bandeau;! of violets round the hair as in sketch.

There are several kinds of open jackets worn with skirts; some are of tho Eton style, only they fib closer than heretofore. Short basques, rather full, are now the mode, turning back with one revers, forming one with the collar, or having a diatincb revers. Sometimes these basques are added, sometimes cub in one with the jacket. If you desire a tailor-made dress, the choice liea between trousering, plain ladies , cloths, tweeds, or homespuns. Blouses are made of chine silks, of linen and washing materials, and sometimes of broches and eatin, bub email etripee and chinas are the newest; black and white narrow etripea in glace are greatly ia favour. They oughb bo be ehot, whether chlue or nob. You can buy singularly inexpensive silks for the purpose. They ehould be made full, with the centre drooping pleat. Many are trimmed wifcfc movable white muslin pleats edged wibfc lace; the sleeve? r>re always large.

Fig. 3 illustrates a stylish pelisse fo« promenade or visiting. It is composed o; light fawn-coloured cloth made to flb in thG back tightly to waist, from which the ekirb falls in full pleats. A watteau drapery from underneath the cape falls over the whole to hem. Tho front has an under piece which ie> perfectly straight and plain, and fastens on the left side under the over-lying pleat or fold (bwo folds it will be noticed fall down either side facing centrewarde) which is of fawn shot velveb. The cap? — which comes from under the back fold of the two on each side, and lies quite flab ovm 1 the shoulders—is, with the cuffs, also o! fawn ehofc velvet, Roskll£i
