Paris, September 5. before fcho closing of Rothschild's
bauk the police saw a man enter the buildiigr concealing something under his coat, and followed him. On reaching the staircase leading bo the first storey the man was caught trying to lighb a fuse ab the end of a cigarette. Upon seeing the policeman he threw the bomb violently on the ground,
but -the thick barpeb prevented an ex
plosion. The would-be asaassin rushed into ,the street, bub finding it impossible to
escape, drew a razor and tried to cue a v Jnoiicenaan'e throat. The latter drew his and held the Auarchiet at r while a eecond gendarme seized him.
