The meeting of tb9 Auckland Caledonian Society thi.-s week was one of the largest and best conducted of the season, the Foresters' Hall being completely tilled. Mr 11. T. Michaels occupied the chair, and Messrs Bragge and Ness ably assisted ab the piano and violin. The ordinary programme consisted of songs, "Scotland Yet " and " Scots Wha Ha'e," Mr J. Earle ; Highland fling, Mast6r Johnston ; comic song, " Keep Away from Girls," Mr Crew ; song, " Scenes That Are Brightest," Miaa M. Glover; Irish jig and sailors' hornpipe, Mr Follas ; selections on the bones by Mr Cre\r. Five ladies entered lor the English song competition, namely,. Mrs Birch, Mfa Murray, Miss Baker, Mis 3 McLoan and Miss A. Glover, and after a moat interesting contest the trophy was awarded to Mr? Murray for her sons "The Bridge." " Auld Lang Syne" by the company finished a moab enjoyable concert, and tho hallwa3 then cleared for dancing. To-morrow afrernosn an address will bo delivered in the Sailors' Mission Hall by Mr J. Bennett Anderson, the "singing evangelist."
