BIG FIRE IN MASTERTON.

SEVEN SHOPS BURNED.

Mastertox, thie day. The mesb extensive fire known here occurred in the Forty Mile Bush last night at Eketahuna. The fire broke out in Huatar'a billiard-room about 2 o'clock, and had a strong hold when discovered. The fire spread rapidly to Dixon's branch cordial factory, Steer's boot shop, and Low's railway, on the north side, and to Kelao'a chemisb shop, Mcinnea' bakery, and Brenmuhl's boarding-house on the south. A gale was blowing, and all the buildings were blazing together. Nothing was saved except a little bedding from tbe hotel. All are heavy losers. . There waa no water supply of any kind. All the buildings mentioned weredeatroyed completely within an hour. The insurances are not known.
