THE OTARAMA FROM LONDON.

Early this morning the New Zealand Shipping Company'B fine cargo steamer Otarama arrived in port from London, and having about 1,600 cases of explosives on board, anchored &*i the powder gromsd.

The steamer comes into port in first-class order, both above and below decks, after a pleasant and uneventful passage. Captain Mil ward, R.N.R., who ia still in command and to whom we are indebted for our report, states tbab the steamer left the Royal Albert Docks on the afternoon of July Sbh, and steamed down to Holehaven, where explosives wore taken on board. The voyage was resumed at 9 the nexb morning. Early on the morning of July 16th the Otarama anchored off Teneriffe, and sailing again ab 4 p.m. of bhe same date, had moderate N.E. and S.E. trades with fine weather down the African coast. The Cape of Good Hope was rounded on August 6bb, and the usual westerly winds were experienced across the Southern Ocaan. Neither ice nor wreckage was sighted, nnd on the 30th ult. bhe Otarama passed south of Tasmania. On the 2nd inst. the ship Waitangi was signalled, and for bhe two following days a fresh nor'westerly gale was encounbered. This moderated on September 4th, and fine weather was met with bill dropping anchor in port at 6.10 this morning. The actual steaming time of tbe voyage was 58 days 4 hours 17 minutes. Associated with Captain Milward are the following officers .—J. G. Cogan, chief; N. E. Bower, second ; N. R. Cornwall, third ; C. M. Gibson, fourth. Engineers: W. Brown, chief; F. E. Greenstreet, second ; T. B. Davie, third ; W. Eampton, fourth ; A. McMillan, chief refrigerating engineer ; G. Gannings, second ; T. Wellington, chief steward. For Auckland, including transhipments, the Otarama has close on 4,000 ton 3of cargo. She was berthed ab Queen sbroeb wharf bo discharge bbis afternoon, and on completion leaves, probably aboub the end of nexb week, for Wellingron, for which port she has some 600 tons of merchandise.
