SALE OF BENEFIT TICKETS.

At the Police Courb yesterday afternoon, George Ross was charged tliab on or about July 31st last he committed theft, in that having received certain tickets for a benefit concert, tendered to Mr Jas. Cowell, on torms requiring him to account for the said tickets, or the proceeds thereof, to the Secretary of the Committee, and that he fraudulently omitted to accounb for the same. Sergeant Gillies stated that the accused received some £9 odd worth of ticketa for the Cowell benefit, and that after the concert he refused to hand over the money. His Worship ordered the defendant to pay £7 lla 6d forthwith for the ticketsrhe sold, and ioflicted a fine of £10, or in default two months' imprisonment. The defendant was allowed three months in which to pay the fine.
