PROPOSED MINING ASSOCIATION.
Our mining industry haa become of bo much importance that we are surprised that some organisation has nob boen formed ere this to promote its interests and take combined action whenever necessary for tho purpose of securing the execution of needful works on goldfields, and bo urge, desirable legislative reforms. In South Africa, good service has been rendered by an association of this kind, and we are glad to notice from an advertisement in another column that a meeting has been convened ab which the question of forming an association hero will be considered. Its objects are thda defined :
1, To promote and protect the mining interests and industries of the colony, and in particular tho mining interests and industries of the Auckland goldhelds. 2. To consider all questions connected with the mining industry. 3. To promote legislative and other moasurea allecting such industry. 4. To collecb and circulabe statistics and other measures affecting such industry. 5. To communicate with and exchange information upon mining matters with Chamber of Mines or Government Dopartmonbß of Mines in this and other countries. 6. To procure information as to mines, mining companies, and all matters relating thereto. 7. To act as arbitration in the sebtlemenb of any disputes arising oub of mining.
