. Our Porb Albert correspondent writes :— On Tuesday afternoon, when ,it became known thab Mr F. Ward was dead, a very general feeling of regret was expressed, bat the facts connected with the cause of death wire, such aa to create, a painful impresßion throughout the district. Mr Ward man old resident of Porb Albert and Wharehine for nearly 30 years, having arrived in Auckland in the ship Ida Zeigler in 1867.
