\ The monthly meeting was held ab the Zion Hill Schoolroom on Thursday evening,- all members being present except' Cr. Bell, the Mayor presiding.—The-Mayor laid be- ■ .fore the Council ia letter received from Mr Thomas! Seaman, resigning, /the' Beveral ' offices lield by.him, owing to his continued
ill-health. Very great regret was -expressed by all at;the necessityfor this step, Mr Seaman having conducted the business of'the Gouhcil- to the entire satisfaction both of >thatj body and of 'the burgesses in general • ever since the formation; of ;the borough. Mr Thomas J William Seaman, $;ho has been acting for the last three months, was. appointed to the same position and on the same; terms ;as formerly* arranged with' Mr Secman, sehr. In accordance with resolution of last meeting, the/ rates for the current year were levied, and the. rate -book duly signed. The burgess roll, to which no' objection had been lodged, was also signed as, correct. Reports were received as%o progress of works in various parts of ith|iSyborough, and sundry repairs were authorised. Financially the Treasurer reported as follows :—General account—Dr. baianee.April, £257s lOd; rates received, £3 7a2d ; accounts paid, £26 18a 9d, leav: ing dr.-balance £4S 19.3 sd, with accounts passed last meeting, bub unpaid, £12 10s 2d.- Special account—Cr. balance April,, £2 7s lOd; rates received, 5s lOd, leaving | credit balauce; £2 • 13s Bd. ; Accounts | amountingto £20 12s lid were passed for paymenb as. funds allowed. The, Town] Clerk was instructed to famish information require^ by, the Registrar-General, and also j t&issuenobices;to parties who were allowing hedges to grow over and injure footpaths. . . ...
