FUNERAL OF MR. D B. CRUICKSHANK.
This afternoon the funeral of the late Mr D. B. Craickshank took place. The long cortege left his late residence, Victoria Avenue, soon after bhree o'clock. The firsb three carriages were occupied by relatives and friends of the deceased, and the next three carriages contained the directors and staff of the Northern Steamship pompany. The coffin was made of polished oak with Bilver mountiugs, and the plat 4 bore bhe following inscription :— " David Boosie Cruickshank. Died Bth May, 1895 ; aged 53 years." Deceased was interred in St. Mark's cemetery, the Rev, W. Beattie reading the funeral service. Messrs Winks and Hall conducted the funeral arrangements. The late \Mr D. B. Cruickshank's business experience in Auckland dated back to the year 1864, when he took up a position in fche\firm of Cruickshank and Smart, ironmongers,, in which firm his brother, Mr Jame^ Cruickshank, who had arrived in , the colony siv years previously, was- partner. ThAae years later, ii. 1567, Mr David Cruickshank was admitted to partnership in the firtp, and Mr Smart retiring, the bwo brothers carried on business as general merchants foV a number of years. To day the offices ot the\New Zealand Accident Insurance "Company; of which the deceased was Chairman of\ Directors, were closed as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased, bbc funeral taking place bhie afternoon at Remuera. \
