The authorities .permitted the landing of the live cattle by the Gulf of Bothnia at -Dunkirk. Each of the beasts lost 3001b in weight) during the voyage, and they were' killed on shore. Captain Lincklater says the trip was a good one as regards the weather, but for ten daysin the early stage the cattle refused food. Ten died on the journey—some from rough shipping, while others were affected by the heat. '. The leading Australian ship owners estimate a loss of £2,000 on the voyage if they charter a cattle steamer to carry 900 cattle at £6 per head.
