Wellington, Tuesday. The annual regatta proved to be one of the moab successful gatherings in the history of the Club. The win of the VVaitangi in the big event was very popular, and Mr Logan, of Auckland, hey builder, who Bteered her in the race, received a great ovation as he crossed the line at the finish, the enthusiasm being renewed when the Rona, the winner of the second-class championship, which was also builb by Logan, drew up alongside the VVaitangi, and the two boats sailed away together to their moorings. It was very evident the wind was far too light to allow of the Mascotte showing the excellent sailing qualities she undoubtedly possesses. The sailing of the Napier boat in the second'class race was very much admired, and regfet was expressed thab Bho could nob be awarded the first money. It is understood she ia under offer to a Wellington syndicate, her owner being desirous of securing a larger boat. The following are the particulars of the principal events: —

First-class Championship Yacht Race, 5-rating and over. First prize, £100, and Commodore's Cup ; second, £20. Distance, about 27 knote. Mr R. Logan's (Auckland) Waitangi, 10-rating, 6min 38soc ... 1 Mr John Sinclair's (Lybtelbon) Maacotte, 14 rating, scratch 2 Mr M. The first round vvaa completed as follows : Waibangi, lh 57m 50a ; Mascobte, 2h 9m ; Maritana, 2h 15m 55.; Pastime, 2h 19m. On the run to Woraer Bay for the Becond time the Waitangi increased her lead by aboub 6m, and failing splendidly crossed the line an easy winner ab 4h 59m 52e. The Mascotte, who was three or four miles behind her, finished ab 5h 27m 295. The Pasbime and Maritana finished cloae together shortly before six o'clock, the former having the advantage.

Second-class Championship Yacht Race. —Two and ahalf rating and under five. First prize, £50 and trophy ; second, £10, Distance, aboub 20 knots. Mr A. 11. Turnbull's Rona, 43 rating, lmin 7sec 3 Mr S. G. Oaborno's Isca, 4 6 rabing, scratch 5

Also started: Atalanta (Napier), Wainatu, Mtthina and Mapu. This was a cloße race. The Atalanta (which had 6min Msec time allowance) completed the first round at lhr 38min, followed by the Rona ab lhr 39min, the Isca at lhr 39min ssec, and the Mapu at lhr 42min. From this out the Ata'anta maintained her lead, and crossed at 4hr smin, exactly a minute in front of tho Rona, which was twelve minutes ahead of the Isca. The first prize was awarded to the Rona, the Napier boat being disqualified for having carried a larger mainsail than she was rated for.

The Third-class Yacht Race was won by the Iris, Several other events for smaller craft were also got off during tho day.

The handicap race for nil yachts, irrespective of size, will be sailed on Saturday over the championship course, when ib ia probable all tho yachts taking part in today's regatta will compete.

The owner of the Mascotto has expressed dissatisfaction with the result of the championship race yosterday. He considers his boat had nob favourable conditions. At first ho intondedto chaHer/go*bhe'6"wri6r of the Waitangi, the amounb of the stake to be .-CIOO. However, the Yachb Club have arranged for .a'gen.eral handicap race opon to all yachts in the tiarbdur, nfwhich will probably be fixed for Saturday. The Waitangi was handed over to her Wellington owners this morning, and Mr Logan returns to Auckland at the end of the week. Out of ten competing, only two yachts were built by Mr Logan—Waitanui and Rona—and both won firsts. Two other Auckland yachts. The Peb and Atalanta, builb by Mr C. Bailey, also distinguished themselves, the Atalanta, which came in first in the second-class yacht race, being unfortunately disqualified.
