PAeroa.—Rumour has it that a well-known prospector has discovered the Waihi-reef beyond that district. Should such prove to be the case the discovery is one of great importance.

Woodstock,United. — A meeting of directors in this Company was held yesterday afternoon when the question of, increasing the capital was gone into carefully. Ib was ultimately decided to call an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders for the purpose of placing before them 'a resolution authorising an increase in the capital of the company by the iseue of 95,000 new shares of 10a. each, 53 per share paid up, thus making the total number ot shares in the company 150,000. Ib is proposed to offer 55,000 of the new eharea to shareholders, • pro raia, on payment of Is per share; the remaining 40,000 to be reserved.

Hazelbank.—The manager reports there fia very little change on the No. 1 reef in the face of the drive at the No. 2 intermediate level since his last. The country is of a favourable description, and the quartz still contains a fair amounb of mineral, bub they have Been no gold in the stone. ■ A second stope is being carried along on the lender above this level, and although the quartz looks very promising, yeb they have nob been successful in obtaining any picked stone. In the etopo on the cross reef above this level, the quartz looks vpell. . Gold has been frequently seen in breaking ib out, and from its appear?:ace would expect specimens ab any tim/j.. •.■•.
