AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon in the Board's office, when bhere were presenb: Messrs A. H. Nabhan (Chairman), M. Niccoll, R. Farrell, J. McCabe, J. J. Holland, T. Henderson, C. V. Houghbon, and E. W. Alison:
Fish Market.—The lessee of bhe fish market in Quay-streeb having relinquished his lease, ib was decided to again offer tbe establishment for lease by auction.
Bathing Shed.—With regard to an application for permission bo erect a bathing shed on bhe beach ab Dovonporb, on bhe road leading to bhe Calliope Dock, ib was decided bo refer the matter to bho Workß and Tariff Commibtee wibh power to acb.
Shear Legs.—A deputation consisting of Messrs H. Ford, Fraser and Seagar waited on bhe Board wibh reference to a requesb from boiler makers and others for bhe erecbion of shear legs in a convenient posibion for lifbing heavy weights from 35 to 40 bons. The deputation nrged thab bbc Board should bake steps, to erecb appliances'for lifbing heavy woighbs, in order bo keep pace with tho requirements of the port. Obhdr "porbs^ in bhe colony were well supplied in such respects, and ib was high bime thab such an appliance as was asked for was erecbed here. Mr Ford said bhab as far*as'.he Northern Steamship Company's sbeamors wore concerned bhe manager had said bhab bhe sbeamers would have to be sent to Wellington to have repairs executed in bhe way of lifbing oub boilers, etc., unless shear-legs were erected here. Mr Fraser said bhab shear-legs bo lifb SO tons could be erocbod for something under £2,ooo.—The question was referred to the Works and Tariff Commibtee, the Chairman and Mr Farrell speaking strongly in favour of the requesb.
