OPENINGS FOR AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE.

A GOOD MARKET IN

CANADA

Sydney, this day. Mr LArke, the Canadian Commissioner, states that there is a market for sugar in the West Coast of the Dominion, and he thinks ships bringing timber from Puget Sound might profitably take back raw sugar. There is also an opening for light fur. skins used in glove making and rabbit skins. He thinks that there will be a good opening for tallow. With regard to the fruit trade, he considers the Australians might follow the example of Californian fruitgrowers. At present packages are too heavy, and the timber nscd unsuitable. This causes iieavy charges for freight after the fruit has left Vancouver. The dead meat market is restricted, owing to the low price ruling for live sheep in Canada.
