AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY.

The story of the foundation, of the growth, .and of the present sncceaa of the Auckland /Grammar School is neither uninteresting nor unexciting. Nob only was there a hard fighfc to gain ita establishment, but there have been adventurous times since then in its career. An illustrated history of the school, containing a group of the scholars, both boys and girls, portraits of the scholastic staff and engravings of school buildings, school band, etc., has been prepared, and will appear in the "Graphic," bo-morrow. Its appearance will unquestionably be exceedingly popular. The large groups of the scholars and other pictures uro reproductions of photographs specially taken for this article by Mr Hanna. The originals are perhaps the most perfect specimens of group photography we have ever eeen. That of tho bays must contain nearly two hundred figures, and there is not one that cannot be.clearly recognised. The photographs are indeed true works of art, and do credit not only to Mr Hanna, bub to the city. The grouping, though so natural as to appear unstudied, is the result of,. care, pationce and intuitive knowledge of balance. The photos are, in short, admirable. Doubtless, many scholars will purchase copies for framing-, the price being extremely moderate. The .reproductions in the "Graphic" are worthy of the photos, and tho whole number is excellent. Mr Edwards supplies a capital photo of the Old Boys' Association, which:is also finely produced.
