DYNAMITE EXPLOSION.
A TERRIFIC SHOCK.
GREAT DAMAGE TO PROPERTY.
Perth, January 8.
Further particulars concerning the dynamite explosion at Freemantle, show that 522 pounds exploded causing great damage tip:property in 'Freemantle aparb ..from havoo to aheda. An eye - witness describing. tho;6kploisicwi, states i that a huge tongue of ~ flame surmounted by fire, resembling a meteor, shot into the air tor a distance of about 200 feeb, and was visible for 14 miles. The upshoob of the flome was observed on board the stoamer Adelaide which was approaching Rottnest. ' The, captain states that he distinctly felt, the shock, and from the appearance of the flame ho judged that Freemantle bad been wrecked. Ab Rockinghara, 13 .miles away, the. shock . was felt, and ab Claremonb many ; persons were aroused from bed. It has. nob yet been ascertained how/the explosion occurred, bub it is evidenb that the priming ehot was not fired bj accident.
