THIS MORNING'S TRAINING

NOTES.

Teaining operations ab Ellerslie commenced at a very early hour this morning. A large number of spectators were present including Mr S. H. Gollan (who rode Ebor in his work), Mr E. D. O'Rorke, Mr John Marshall, and Mr R. Allan (owner of Saracen). The two - year - old , filly Caribou, • which arrived yesterday, was umong the number worked. Prime Warden pleased' the touts very much, and promises to start a warm favourite for the Cup. On the other hand, Pegasus finished very badly in a gallop this morning. Mr G. G. Stead's pair, Bluefire and Bloodshot, were much admired by the onlookers. Fishmonger jumped the schooling fences.' Stopfeldb, The Dancer, and. Campania were galloped a mile and aquarter, the two last-named finishing in the rear. Forma had the besb of Royal Rose and St. Valenfcine in a gallop' of a mite and a-half, Uoßciua, Deceiver, Magpie and Ballyhooley were worked together over the Steeplechase country. The quartette negotiated the' country safely. Rosciua pleased the onlookers very much. Lottie galloped a mile aud a-half alone. Markinch defeated Reynard in a gallop over six furlongs, Commodore beat Bit o' Fashion in a spurt) of five furlongs. Ebor, with Mr Gollan up, and Norton, with Hickey in the saddle, did strong work a couple of times round. Saracen and Prime Warden did half and threo-quarter pace work separately. The two-year-olds Pirate and Deadehot each spurbed five furlongs. Her Ladyship had all the besb of St. Regel in a gallop over five furlongs, lngorina and Ben Godfray were galloped a mile, both finishing together. The two-year-old colb Bloodshot galloped six furlongs by himself. The Canterbury Derby winner, Bluefire, was only trotted. The C. J.C. Welcome Stakes winner, Caribou, did half-pace work. Acceptances for the Trial Handicap, Hurdle Race. Christmas Handicap, Nurßery Handicap, Railway Handicap and Tony Handicap, to be run on Boxing Day, are due to-morrow nighb.
