MRS ANNIE BESANT.
This lady, who is to deliver her fireb lecture in New Zealand to-night, arrived by the R.M.B. Alameda late yesterday afternoon. She was met by a large number of admirers, who presented her with bouquets of flower?, and cordially welcomed her to the colony. In theevening,atPonßonby College, aformal reception was accorded to Mrs Bosant by the membera of the Auckland branch of the Theosophical Society. Up to the very last her audiences in Sydney were crowded, and eho returns to that city from Wellington the first week of next month. To-night, in the Opera House, Mraßosanb will commence her aeries of four lectures in Auckland, when the subjecb will be "The Dangers That Threaten Society." ■
