NEW ZEALAND IRON.
Is the Star of last-night appeared the report of tho Committee on the iron industry of the colony, and in view of their report being favourable the management of the Manukau Iron and Steal Rolling Mill have forged and rolled a case of different sections of iron samplos for the Government. Those were made in the presence of our correspondent, and a sample was Bent in to our office this morning for the inspection of any merchant or dealer who may feel interested in our local works. The samples, when cool, were twisted from iron flats l^in by |in, and rounds from |in to lin ; also one piece 2fin by lgin was bent, when cold, under the eteam hammer without the'slightest fracture being perceptible. Ib is to be hoped that a fair amount of success will follow this bond fide industry, the Company being only working men who have started on the co-operative system, 'and when the quality of their iron is known no doubb their success will be certain and sure.
