THE COOLGARDIE GOLD FIELD.

The Coolgardie correspondent of the Sydney " Daily Telegraph " writes: —"A promising-looking reef is being opened up on the Londonderry South mine, a few blocks from the Londonderry. The gold is fine, bub well distributed all through the quartz. The Wealbh of Nations Syndicate has received an offer of £10,000 cash fer 9 acres and 4-acre blocks adjoining the big mine. It is probable that the offer will be accepted. A crosscut is being run in at tho 20fb level. The Wealth of Nations mine has not yet struck the reef, which is going down more vertically than was expected, fiffho atone being broken in the underlie shaft is very rich. Red Lake, on Hampton Lande, is found to carry a lot of Concessionfe'are' being gran ted on reasonable terms. Several large conddasera are- now erected, and others are in course of erection. The owner of one of theft tried sit' da-y to sell a thousand gallons daily at bid per gallon for three months, but found no buyers. A condenser haß been started on the Consols mine, and will empty over a thousand gallons daily. Condensers in town are still charging 9d per gallon, but it is believed that competition will quickly reduce the price. . Water has fallen to 5d and 6d per gallop, owing to tho action of the Government in refusing to supply water to any one charging more, and also to immonse quantities of condensed water being offered in town. Last night a supply equal to 5,000 or 6,000 gallons was etruck in the Government well at Cattle Swamp. It is believed that several wolls will strike an equally heavy supply in the course of a few days. The attempt to put up the price to the public has failed, and water is again at tho normal rafco. It is understood that more rich gold has been found from six to ten miles from the Salt Lakes. The reef in Cockshob's shaft at Bayley's mine is opening up more promisingly than ever. This ehaft was sunk in the northern block of the company's leases, and the reef is lOfb wide, carrying good gold all through.
