CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE

A meeting of the City Schools Committee was held last evening. Present: Messrs J. Blades (Chairman), Farrell, Julian, Crowe, Fairs, Squirrell, and Dis. Walker and McArthur.

Changes.—The Secretary to the Board of Education notified the Committee of the following changes :—Wellesley-street: Removed, Mr C. W. Field, probationary pupil teacher ; attached, Mr E. A. Power, ex-pupil teacher, Miss E. 11. Clarke, third year pupil teacher, Mr J. H. Rendall, probationer, and Mr D. W. Murray, probationary pupil teacher. Napier-streeb: Mr T. R. Keesing, probationary pupil teacher, resigned. Nelson-streeb: Miss Adelaide Emson, firsbyear pupil teacher, attached. Nelson-street School.—The Committee decided to approve of the Board's recommendation to remove. Miss Hall to the Thames and appoint Mies B, M. Angove, of the Thameß, to the position in her stead.

Wai?t of Information.—A lobfcejv was received from the Board of -Education regarding the Committee's complaint of the want of information Riven in the Inspectors' reports on the failures in the various puss subjeots. The reply was to the effect that if the Committee had reason to feel difjaatisfied with the work of any teacher in the City Schools, the Board would be ready to furnish them with particulars of information expressing the Inspector's full judgment of-tjie school work of such teacher.—Dr. McArthur considered it was the duty of the Inspector to explain in his report to the Committee the reason for the failure of any particular pupil or pupila. —Dr. Walker said the reply from the Board was a snub on every School Commit-
