Tha B.S. Mararoa reportß passing a gteamer bonnd west) on Sunday evening last. This would be the B.s. Fiona on the way from this porD to Sydney. The iron barque Glen Esk was passed steering east on September 14th ab 4 p.m. by. the Ovalau. The same night a four-masted ship was passed, also bound easb. The RM.s. Alameda left Sydney last afternoon for Auckland. She should pub in an appearance on Friday evening at this port, and on the Saturday resumes her voyage to San Francisco. -

H.M.e. Royalist was expected to arrive at Cairns (Q.) on the 26th ulb. from the Solomon Group. From the Queensland port she ia1 to come acros3 to Auckland to relieve the Rapid, which then proceeds to Sydney. ~ The R.M.S. Msnowai, from this port en route for San Francisco, arrived at 4 o'clock on September 13th ati Apia. The steamer was several hours behind contracb time, owing to having meb with heavy weather on the run down. The following morning the mail boat resumed her voyage.

Tho barque Devonport arrived this morning from Newcastle, anchoring in the stream. She left Newcastle on the 18th ulb. and met with similar weather to that experienced by tho Acacia. On discharge io is probable that she will leave for tho Thames to load for Warrnambool (.V.).

The e.s. Ovalau, from;Fiji-with island produce, arrived ab 8 o'clock last) night. Mr Barnes reports that alter loading.up ab Levuka, Vuna Point and Navua, the steamer left Suva finally for this pore lato on tha night of Wednesday lase. Light variable winds and fine weather prevailed throughout. The Ovalau went up to Chelsea to-day to discharge sugar, on the completion of which she leaves about five o'clock'this evening for Wellington.

After a smart pa33age of four days across from Sydney the s.s. Mararoa berthed yesterday afternoon at. the Queen-street Wharf. Mr Bourne, the purser, reports that she cleared Port Jackson Heads a few minutes before five o'clock on Septembet 27th, and made the New Zealand coaar early yesterday morning, making fast to Queen-street Wharf at 4.15 o'clock in the afternoon. Till making the North Capo fresh south-easterly winds and seaa with occasional rain squalls were met with, followed by fresh southerly winds down the coast and to arrival.

The barque Acacia anchored in the stream this morning from Newcastle with coal. Captain Herbert reports that the coal port was left on September 18th. For tho first five days out the Acacia yva3 in company with five Bailing ships, atnonw which wa3 the Devonporb, all steering eastward. With the exception of a strong blow from the N.E. on tho 25i.h nit. fine weather with southerly winds was experienced till making Cape Maria early on the 28th. On Saturday tho Nortk Cape was abeam and down the coast southerly winds were met with, changing on Monday to strong, sou westerly. The Rangitoto beacon was passed at 1.0 o'clock last night and the barque remained in the channel till this' morning when ahe came up. The Acacia started the discharge of her coal lib the Railway Wharf this afternoon and will leave shortly for tho Thames to load for Melbourne. " ,' ' • . :
