Yesterday afternoon a sitting, of the Court under fche Native Lands Frauds Prevention Act Was held ' before Mr H. Vf. Northcroftj S.M., a Trust Commissioner. A number of conveyances from natives to Europeans were presented for certificates under this Act, and evidence taken. Orders were made in moat cases, others being adjourned. Re 11. H. and Scott Hunter v. Mete Nini Kukutai, a judgment of the Supreme /Court for £34 3s 7d, application was nisde for a certificate, and inquiry wa9 made and sworn evidence adduced as to the bona fides of the claim and as to the defendant's ownership of various lands. Further hearing was adjourned for a fortnight. The following inquiries are made for missing friends in "Lloyds Journal" of Augußtl9bh :—John Sweeney left London for Wellington, N.Z.. in Au'giist, 1890? last heard of from Melbourne two years ago. Bro. George ask?. Benjamin and Benjamin Philip Fielder,'father and Bonj left London for Auckland,. N.Z., in October, 1867; last heard from the eon 16 years ago, when he stated he was coming home.
