Hordem's Derby colt Carbonado, by Hotchkiss out of Onyx, has been fired and turned put for a year's spell. On the other hand Mr Hordem's two-year-old colt Cravat (by Castor from Necklace) ia said to be a hummer. At Randwick some few days ago he ran three furlongs easily in 39aec. Since my last notes appeared a wager of 4QP to 12 has been locally booked about Magazine for the New Zealand Cup. Speculators have also accepted 100'a to 4 about Royal Rose for the same event. This price is wanted. Mr R. Blaikie has issued his annual "Sporting Guide " containing the performances of the New Zealand Cup horses for the lasb season and up to date. A lot of other'uaeful information is given to turfites in the little volume, -which is a cheap sixpence worth. The Wellington Park stallions for the season are announced in this issue. Cuirassier's fee is 25 guineas for single mare, 20 guineas two or, more mares. St. Leger is to stand at 30 guineas, and Hotchkiss ab 20 guineas. - Mr M. S. Pro-Consul, Hat 2lb, .waß third. Bonnie Scotland, with 7st 81b, ran a good race in the Men tone Handicap, for though he finished third, he was bub a neck away from tbe winner. The American Perby winner, Rey El Santa Anita, soon losb his claim to distinction as a first-class colt, as he was unable to get nearer than third to Dobbins, Bsb 101b, and Hornpipe, Bst 101b in the Realisation Stakes, one mile and five furlongs, which was worth 33,400d01s to bhe winner. There were only six runners. At the same meeting Waltzer, by Barebin, who is perhaps the best two-year-old in America, won first prize in Great Trial Stakes, six furlongs, from 10 opponents. His share of the prize was 16,700d015. One of tbe races at. the Corrigan benefit meeting waa called the "Lone Hand"-, icap. During the past season bhe sum ot £26,720 was given in stakes by pony-racing clubs in and about Sydney.
