NEWTON PIGEON ANSI CANARY CLUB.

The annual Show of the Newton Pigeon and Canary Club in the Foresters' Hall, Karangahape Road, was well patronised last night. The exhibits are much more numerous than last year, and it is claimed to be the largest Show of its kind ever held in tbe colony. The pigeons are nicely arranged in commodious and clean pens. In the pigeon claares, there is a very fine show £>f fantails, and all are so good the judges had difficulty in deciding the prize winners. The Roller and Magpie classes are represented by some very fine birds. A number of new classes are shown for tbe first time, notably Satinettes, White African owls, and Black Saddle Fantails. These belong to Mr J. Walker, who also exhibits some oapital Pouters. Aa usual, Mr Walker has carried off a great number of prizes, including seven specials. Mr A. L. Edwards's Magpies were much admired, and so were Mr G. Towler's Antwerps, both long and short-faced. ' Some fine Homers are also shown. Messrs Johnston and Hamon carried off the honours in shortfaced Kite Tumblers. The canaries are the boat all round lot yeb shown in Auckland, there being a general improvement in shape and colour. In some of the classes the judging did not give entire satisfaction, but on the whole the judges acquitted themselves well. The Show was open to day, and will close at 9.30 to-night. The art union will be drawn in the basement of the Forester's Hall on Monday night. The following is the completion of the prize'lißt :— ?IGEONS.
