Heavy rain has been falling since Saturday evening. There was a considerable fresh in the Kaaaeranga River, bat no logs have been brought down to the Kaari Timber Company's booms at ParawaL
Auckland has not escaped its share of the rough weather reported by telegrams from the South. On Saturday afternoon it commenced to rain, and the rain continued throughout the night and during yesterday. The wind gradually rote, the direction T.arying from east to south-east, till last evening it 'culminated in a stiif gale, combined with a heavy downpour cf rain seldom ■' equalled here. Eariy this morning the wind veered roand to the west, and, although it still rains, there y every eign of its clearing1 shortly. AjJ vessels arriving throughout to-day ropoi c heavy sea and wind on the coast. At Maraden Point, several small coasters hud to put in for shelter yesterday, andthegiJe seemed to rage as strongly on the west as on the east coasc, the Blni being the only place throughout the colony which has escaped the battle of the elements.
