A BRESZE AT THE BOARD

iIEETING.

A brpobp presented to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board this day contained the resolutions carried at the meeting of the Committee relative to the charges made against two nnr«j?, of which proceeding* an extended report has already been published. The report was adopted. A letter was also read from the Hon. Medical Staff referring to the gravity of the charges against the nimes, and expressing j regret that the offenders were nob more! stringently dealt with. They also regretted that eucb publicity bad been given to the proceeding*, Mr Garratt mored that the letter be received. Mr Gordon said the reporter was present without invitation, and it would hare been impolitic to have excluded him. Mr Lennox aaid that live reporter bad exercised fairness and discretion, and the publicity given bad removed the impression that) there was something seriously wrong going on at the Hospital. Mr Gordon moved, "That in the opinion of this Board the Committee was perfectly justified in coming to the decision that they did, with the evidence before them, and that the Committee was nod responsible for the publicity given." Mr Garratt and Mr Brace both expressed the opinion that the Medical Staff bad no right to review the decision of the Committee. Mr Garratt then proceeded to criticise the letter in detail, when Mr jMeCabe rose to a point of order, stating that Mr Garratt was wasting time. Mr Garratt: If yon don't like it get ontnide. Mr McCabe : No, it's yon that onght to be outside. Mr Garratfc: «Then put me out. I'm a plain-speaking fellow, bnt I'm not to be sat upon. It's not the first time yon have said I was talking non?eose. Mr McCabe: So yon are. Mr Garratt: If yon don't like it, get. The Chairman : Mr Garratt was in order, and I hope the gentlemen of the Board will recognise the courtesies due from one member to another. Mr' Gordon's amendment was then pat and adopted.
