Wellington-, this day. Twentt-setsn compositors arrived by tlto steamer Tasmania from Australia yesterday. Replying to a request from the Trades Council thab letters in connection with the propo&ed^Labour Parliament pass through tbe post free, the Postmaster-General states that the conceseion could not be granted, as the system of franking letters and tele- j crams is to be abolished. Tbe new system j has nob yet been determined. The construction of the "Queen's Drive," which will provide work for bhe unemployed, begins on Monday. The wages paid will be from 3s to 5a par day, according to capability for work. Summonses have been issued against several members of a family named Cameron, living near Lowry Bay, in connection with the illicit still case. Dunedin, this day. Mr Thoraaß King, Weldon, formerly Inspector of Police, and lately Inspector of Factories, is dead. The deceased served in Victoria in the early days, and was present at the Ballarat Riots.
