(Before H. W. Norbhcrofb, Esq., S.M.) Drunkenness.—One firsb offender was dismissed with a caution, and a second was tined 56 or 43 hours hard labour in default. —Charles Edward Gardiner and Alexander Bruce were each fined 10a or 4S hours hard labour in default.

Destitute Persons Act.—Cbarles Vere Hodgo was charged with having wilfully failed to provide adeauate support lor his wife and three children. — The defendant pleadod nob guilty. — Sergeant Gamble (asked that the man should bo remanded to Wellington.—Defendant stated that he was a clerk, and had earned very little in Auckland. He had sent his wife £1, and was now in employment, but would not be paid for about five weeks.—Mr Northcroft decided to remand the defendant till Thursday, and meanwhile communicate with the Wellington Magistrate.—Bail was enlarged. Alleged False Declaration. — John Smith was charged with having, on the 17th of October, unlawfully made a declaration under the Justices of the Peace Act, 1892. before Mr P. E. Baume, to the eilecb that a certain Crown grant bad been destroyed by fire, such assertion not being true.—Mr J. O'Meagher, who appeared for the defendant, asked for a remand for one week, *b Mr Mahony was unwell.— The request was granted, and bail was enlarged.
