EXCITEMENT AT THE THAMES.

There was considerable excitement in town early this morning consequent on the native dispute at Paeroa, and a large number of people lefb for Paeroa to witness the proceedings, which are expected to last a couple of days. A detachment of the Permanent Force and police, under Inspector Hickson, arrived here ab an early hour this morning, aud lefb in brakes for the scene of the dispute before daybreak. The natives gathered ab Parawai started on their journey well-armed, and with plenty of ammunition. Nothing eventful occurred en route, or until arrival ab Hikutaia, where they were stopped by an armed force, and their ammunition was taken from them. They were then allowed to proceed, accompanied by the police.
