The Colonial Officers' Leave of Absence Bill does nob apply to the self-groverning colonies excepb in regard to the repeal of the obsolete Acb of 1814 relating to the residence of colonial officers.
The Hon. Adye Douglas haa been appointed President of the Legislative Council of Victoria.
Mr O'Connor is unable to go to Canada to represent New South Wales ab the Conference.
The British War Offico have decided to import 500 tons compressed todder from Chicago. The bootmakers' strike in Melbourne has terminated, the men returning to work unconditionally. The Maritina Conference at Hobarb has been formally opened and adjourned, pending the arrival of the remaining delegates. Mr Gladstone is ailing.
