Bebween 800 and 900 spectators were presenb ab the Auckland Trotting Club Meeting held ab Potter's Paddock on Baturday afternoon. He had nothing to say excepb bhab the horse was broughb ovor from Sydney and that he had never started in a race. The stewards decided nob to lob Waratah etarb, and referred Mr Thorpe to Rule 115 of the Auckland Trotting Club undor the head "foreign horses." This rule sots out thab no horse foaled oub of bhe colony shall run under the lules of tbo Club until the ownor has satisfiqd the stewards as to identity, age, Bex, pedigree, colour of horse, otc. Mr E. D. Halstead, after an illness of ten weeks, was able to tako up hia position as starter.
