The weather was magnificent for the firsb day of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Auburnn Meeting, buj: the attendance of the public was hardly as good as üßual. The racing was excellent as regards close finishes, bub the sbarbing of Mr Chapman did nob give satisfaction. The amount pub through the machine waß £5,019, a slighb falling-off from last year.
